It pains me to do this but I'm gonna have to take down Crossfire Chase. If you guys remember, this doujisnhi was meant for a manga contest that was held in germany this summer and that I didn't make the dead line. Tuns out that the people who organized this contest want to publish it in a manga magazine in Germany. Unfortunately but understanbably,the condition is for me to take it off the internet

As I said, I really hate to do this. I really appreciate the comments and feedback I got for it and not to mention advice on how to improve.

I say review but frankly there is very little I can tell you about the whole thing since I barely moved 20 feet away from my booth. So yeah, I missed the cosplay contests, AMV contests and pretty much everytghig else that was in the programm. Couldn't even touch the gaming section, it was that packed with people.

For those who wonder, yes, I , together with a friend of mine, had a wonderfull art booth at this convention, where we sold wondeful art together

I had a booth last year aswell, but was far less successful. Last year it was full of Original Art, and while I received praises and positive comments, my stuff didn't sell so well. I still managed to cover all my costs and have a little money left over but it didn't do so well all over. So this year I did more Fanarts and the difference was substantial.
Not to say my original stuff didn't sell well, but compared to the Fanarts.... And by fanart I mean a whole lot of Bleach stuff, a few xxxholic Bookmarks and one DB poster.

But to be honest, I prefer to do original stuff. There is a big difference in the pride you feel when you sell a piece that's 100% yours. Oh well, the "artist" part in me sulks while the economy student part in me is happy and pleased.
I can't tell you how surprised I was when an original drawing was sold. I had set the price pretty high because part of me was hoping they wouldn't sell, cause I kinda grow attached to my drawings. Particulary those done in copic markers and spend a lot time and effort on. Again, sad artist, happy economist.

One note worthy fact about the entire convention was the number of people that participated this year. A LOT more than last year. Which means that the anime community in my humble little country is growing
Not mention that the quality in cosplayers went up a couple of notches. I'm not a fan of cosplay, but this year they were quite a number of what I woud call decent if not good cosplayers.

Remember how I going on and on about having little time to do anything else because I was working on a submission for a manga contest.

Well,to make a long story short, I missed the deadline.

And I can't honestly put the blame on anyone or anything but myself. This is what happens when you live under the impression that you have enough time. I did in fact have enough time. An entire month to be precise. But because of that I thought I shouldn't rush it. Think of the perfect story, do several versions and sketches, pick the right one, change what you don't like. And then ,suddenly, I realized I had less than a week left and I had done exactly only 1 full page. That I threw away because I didn't like it. Suddenly I didn't care about perfection anymore and I just wanted to get something, ANYTHING, done. Funny thing is, I'm actually pleased with what turned out. The last two days,however,were torture. There's nothing worse than working under pressure, with the dreaded deadline looming above your head. I even had my friend stay over to help me do the finishing touches (a.k.a. backgrounds, black surfaces etc.). Said finishing touches took longer than expected. Not to mention the scanning,wording and everything. I even got the time wrong for when the post office closes. I miscalculated so much
To say that I was sad and disappointed (at myself) is an understatement. But I'm over it now. At least you guys get to see it, right.
